From the 17^th to 19^th of April 2009, 91 perfects and several Discipline Teachers from SMK Taman Desa attended the Perfects’ Leadership Camp at Malacca Tropical Fruit Farm. It was undeniably the most exciting event on the perfects’ calendar year. The various team building activities conducted during the camp aimed to expose the prefects to the Concepts of Leadership, such as effective communication skills, cooperation as well as team work.

During the training, many talents were unleashed and some perfects even managed to overcome their fear of heights by participating in the wall climbing activities and obstacle courses. The activities held also helped to enhance the relationship between prefects from the morning and afternoon sessions.

On several occasion, some of us were reprimanded by the camp officers for disregarding rules. However, we perceived the punishments positively as they were meted out to instil discipline and to nurture an exemplary group of student leaders.

Besides the training sessions, we were given the opportunity to go sightseeing. We had loads of fun throughout the weekend, visiting historical buildings in Malacca such as the A Famosa and St. Paul’s Cathedral.

To summarise, the camp was truly a life-changing experience for us, the prefects of SMKTD, as it had benefitted us physically, emotionally and mentally. Hopefully, after this camp, we will be able to discharge our duties confidently and with more commitment. May SMKTD continue to soar to greater heights with the support of this group of student leaders.
