RHB-The Star Mighty Minds National Challenge 2009
After undergoing two gruelling days of competition in the RHB-The Star Mighty Minds National Challenge Finals on the 24^th and 25^th of October, SMK Taman Desa’s Lower Secondary team, which represented Kuala Lumpur, won the fourth placing.  The team comprised Aaron Yeoh, Shakteesh Kumar Selva Kumar and Vaishnavi Rajasingam (all from 3B).  Congratulations to the winners!

 

Although they were not among the top three winners, SMKTD’S trio, can still hold their heads up high, as they were competing against the crème de la crème from thirteen other states and had successfully made it into the finals.

 

On the first day of the competition, they were required to answer 20 multiple-choice quiz questions based on Maths, Science and General Knowledge and the team was also required to create a Ferris Wheel Model based on Science and Maths principles. They were the top five teams shortlisted to enter the finals held on the second day!

 

On the second day of the competition the trio had to create a multimedia presentation accompanied with an oral presentation to showcase the model which they had created.  There was also another round of quiz and a hands-on challenge before the results were announced.  The SMKTD team won the fourth placing and each of the contestants received RM200.00. 

 

Let’s hope that their achievement can serve as an inspiration for other students of SMKTD to always strive for excellence in academic pursuits as well as in co-curricular activities. Well done Aaron, Shaktheesh and Vaishnavi.  Indeed your achievement has made all of us, the warga SMKTD very proud!

 

A special thanks to the teachers accompanying the participants and supporters throughout the competition, Pn Azizah bt. Ithnin and Ms Ho, parents who had shown their unwavering support,  Mr & Mrs Yeoh, and all our loyal supporters for their kind presence and relentless support throughout the competition.

It is hoped that this Mighty Mind challenge undertaken by Aaron, Shaktheesh and Vaishnavi will pave the way for other students to follow in their footsteps and we will have another competent team for next year’s challenge.  Our utmost for the highest!
