Moving on
We would like to wish En  Muhd Khirul Rizal all the best as he takes on new challenges at the Ministry of Education in Putrajaya on the 18^th of January 2010. He was the school’s ICT coordinator and  a very dedicated scout master.
Pihak sekolah mengucapkan jutaan Terima Kasih atas jasa bakti En Rizal sepanjang beliau berkhidmat di SMK Taman Desa.

With a heavy heart we also have to let go of another very dedicated teacher, Pn Hannah Rani Sundram. She was the Honorary Secretary for PIBG 2007/2008, Head of English Panel and Secretary for Curriculum.  Pn Hannah will be relocated to Perak effective 25^th of January 2010. Thank you very  much Puan Hannah for all your hard work and dedication. We warga SMKTD will surely miss you! We wish you only the very best in your new school.

Keputusan PMR/ Results
A total of 24 students   got straight A's compared to 12 in 2008, an increase of 100 per cent! The percentage of passes in all subjects  also showed  significant improvement. Congratulations to all Form Three students who have done very well in this year's PMR examination. (Click here to see the results)

To all SPM and STPM students of 2009! We wish you all the best!
In conjunction with the upcoming SPM and STPM examinations, there are two excerpts of interviews uploaded for your viewing.  These interviews were conducted for the top scorer of 2008’s SPM – Ew Ju Vern  and the recipient of the Principal’s Award 2008 – Jason Goh Chern Shuer.  It is hoped that by  reading what they have said in their respective interviews, the students taking their public examinations will be more aware of the need to excel and try to emulate their success for the glory of the school.  Kami Cemerlang, SMKTD Terbilang!

Program Hidup Berhemah dalam Masyarakat yang dianjurkan oleh Panitia Pendidikan Moral SMK Taman Desa ini diadakan pada 3 November 2009 di Dewan Terbuka Blok G, bermula pukul 10-15 pagi hingga 12.30 tengah hari. Matlamat utama program ini dianjurkan adalah untuk memupuk nilai-nilai murni dan semangat hidup bermasyarakat dalam kalangan warga SMK Taman Desa. Melalui aktiviti seperti ini, pihak sekolah berharap agar pelajar-pelajar yang bersikap lebih prihatin dan penyayang dapat dilahirkan. Mereka ini diharapkan dapat memberikan bantuan atau pertolongan pada bila-bila masa kepada golongan yang memerlukannya, terutama golongan yang kurang bernasib baik dalam masyarakat.

Activities after the PMR examinations
On the 28th of October 2009,  a total of 113 Form three students  accompanied by six teachers embarked on an educational field trip to  the Orang Asli  Settlement in Kampung Sungai Bumbun, Carey Island, situated south of Port Klang, just off the mainland. It is just over an hour's drive from  Kuala Lumpur. Carey Island is the  home to the Mah Meri tribe who are renowned for their  wood-carving and weaving craft.

Congratulations! Another feather in our cap!
Lee Chun Wah (6R) clinched the third prize in the National Level, Secondary Schools Chinese Language Creative Writing Competition organized by the Ministry of Education. The prize giving ceremony was held on the 14th of September 2009 at Tiara Beach Resort, Port Dickson. Our appreciation goes out to Cik Ng Nyok Moi, the teacher who was in charge of this competition.

RHB-The Star Mighty Minds National Challenge 2009
After undergoing two gruelling days of competition in the RHB-The Star Mighty Minds National Challenge Finals on the 24^th and 25^th of October, SMK Taman Desa’s Lower Secondary team, which represented Kuala Lumpur, won the fourth placing.  The team comprised Aaron Yeoh, Shakteesh Kumar Selva Kumar and Vaishnavi Rajasingam (all from 3B).  Congratulations to the winners!
Although they were not among the top three winners, SMKTD’S trio, can still hold their heads up high, as they were competing against the crème de la crème from thirteen other states and had successfully made it into the finals.Read on

A Milestone to Remember...
SMK Taman Desa’s 1^st Graduation Ceremony 2009
2 October 2009 was a memorable and historical day for SMK Taman Desa as it hosted and celebrated its first ever Graduation Day Ceremony since the school was established 29 years ago.
The Graduation Day Ceremony marked the completion of secondary school education for the Fifth Formers and the end of pre-university for the Sixth Formers before they sit for their SPM and STPM Examinations respectively.  The students would then either continue with their academic pursuit or embark on a career. Majlis Doa Restu untuk murid Tingkatan Tiga, Lima dan Enam Atas yang akan menduduki peperiksaan PMR,  SPM dan STPM tahun 2009 telah diadakan pada 2 Oktober 2009 Majlis tersebut bertujuan untuk memberi kesedaran kepada murid-murid tentang kepentingan doa restu daripada guru-guru (mengikut agama masing-masing ) di samping mewujudkan rasa bersyukur dan berterima kasih kepada Tuhan serta pengorbanan guru.

The annual Prayer and Blessing was a very special ceremony  for the 2009  PMR, SPM and STPM  candidates of SMK Taman Desa.  Once again students of different faiths came together for a common goal that was to seek divine intervention as they prepared for their examinations. During the ceremony, students were reminded to study hard and turn to God for guidance as they prepared themselves mentally and spiritually for their examinations. Students from the four different religious groups, namely the Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and Christians carried out their own activities based on their respective faiths

Class of ‘94 - Reunion
The graduating class of 94’ will be having a reunion on the
31st of October 2009 (Saturday) at SMK Taman Desa. Some of the planned highlights for the reunion include inter-class sports competitions, an open karaoke session and a special dinner.
The principal and former teachers who taught these batch of students will be among the invited guests. A heartfelt thanks to the present principal, Mr Gan Peng Kheang for his support of this event.
To the graduating class of ’94, please mark your calendar now and join us on 31st October 2009! Don’t miss the opportunity to get together to reminisce about the good old days, to reconnect and to rekindle the spirit of camaraderie with your former classmates.

Rancangan Integrasi Murid Untuk Perpaduan (RIMUP) merupakan satu program bertujuan untuk membangunkan identiti nasional, semangat kebangsaan, perpaduan dan cinta akan negara dalam kalangan masyarakat berbilang kaum. Pada tahun ini SMK Taman Desa telah dipertanggungjawabkan untuk menjalankan aktiviti ini yang bertujuan untuk menyemai semangat perpaduan pelajar dari kalangan sekolah yang berbeza.
Sukaneka telah dipilih untuk tujuan ini. Gabungan pelajar dari SMK Taman Desa, SMK Desa Perdana dan SMK Sri Sentosa diharap akan merialisasikan hasrat  ini. Pelajar setiap sekolah yang berbeza kaum dan jantina telah diagihkan kepada 6 kumpulan mengikut warna. Setiap kumpulan mempunyai 12 orang peserta..

Heartfelt thanks to the PIBG Committee 2009/2010
The school would like to express its gratitude to Mr. Jeffrey Cheah, a PTA council member, for having conducted a motivational talk for the SMKTD’s School Prefects on 20^th August 2009. The talk benefitted the prefects tremendously. It was a spirit and morale booster for them.  Mr Jeffrey Cheah urged them to hold fast to the three C’s namely, Confident, Challenge and Control to assist them in performing their duties diligently and fairly so that they can gain respect from the peers and more importantly to be able to hold their heads up high at all times.  The Prefectorial Board shoulders a great responsibility in helping the school’s administrators and teachers maintain discipline in the school.
Thank you, Mr Chang Kim Loong, AMN, the PTA Chairman and Mr Howard Goh for your presence during the session to lend support to the prefects.

Sempena dengan Bulan Kemerdekaan 2009, Bidang Kemanusiaan di bawah  pimpinan Pn Rosytaa Md Apandi akan menganjurkan pelbagai aktiviti yang melibatkan semua warga SMKTD. Antara aktiviti yang akan dijalankan ialah Hiasan Bendara/Banner, Pertandingan Hiasan Kelas bertemakan Kemerdekaan, Deklamasi Sajak, Kuiz Umum Spontan, Pertandingan Pakaian Tradisional dan Pertandingan Nyanyian Lagu Negaraku penuh semangat.  Sambutan Bulan Kemerdekaan dari 17 Ogos sehingga 16 September 2009 bertujuan untuk memupuk semangan cinta akan Negara  dalam kalangan warga SMKTD.  Di samping itu, semangat perpaduan dan kerjasama juga diharap dapat dipupuk demi merapatkan hubungan antara semua kaum.

Congratulations and we are proud of you!
Vaishvani, Shaktheesh Kumar and Aaron Yeoh (3B) emerged champions in the lower secondary category of the RHB-The Star Mighty Minds KL state challenge.  In the first part of the challenge they were required to answer questions in English based on General Knowledge, Mathematics and Science principles.
In the second part of the challenge, their innovative creation, a model of a water piping system using Mathematics and Science principles, won the heart of the judges!
The trio bagged RM3,000 and a desktop computer for SMK Taman Desa! The  team will  be representing Kuala Lumpur at the finals to be held in October. They will be competing against  13 other state champions in four rounds of challenges! read on

Co-curricular Day
One of the most colourful  and the liveliest events in the school calendar is definitely  the Co-curricular Day. This annual event is an effective platform for students to develop their leadership, entrepreneurship and interpersonal communication skills. Today’s event was launched by our guest-of-honour the PIBG Chairman Mr Chang Kim Loong, AMN (Text Speech). Also present were PIBG members, parents and former Desarians. There were Taekwando, Footdrill, Yo-Yo demonstrations and Choral Speaking presentation.

Musical Drama, the Phantom of the Opera
On 23rd of July, 240 students led by  ten English teachers watched the Musical Drama, The Phantom of the Opera,  at Civic Centre, Petaling Jaya. The musical drama was a production of Beaconhouse Sri Inai School.  Students  had the opportunity to witness the characters from their Literature book come to live. They  were mesmerised by the awesome props, stunning costumes and the singing. It was indeed a very enjoyable and fruitful field trip. We would like to thank  our Principal, Mr Gan and PK Kokurikulum En Ramizu  for making this field trip possible.  Special thanks also to Pn Hannah Rani , the Head of English Panel for initiating and organizing the field trip.

English Language Drama Competition 2008
Talented young actors and actresses of SMK Taman Desa emerged as the 1^st Runner-up  at the recent Bangsar Zone Drama Competition.  Their  winning drama was based on William Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, Romeo and Juliet.  SMKTD’s drama team together with the Champions, Victoria Institution, will be representing Bangsar Zone at the State Level Competition on the 28^th of July. Congratulations to the drama team and special thanks to their teacher-advisor,  Pn Hannah Rani for her commitment and tireless effort in guiding and preparing the team for the competition

Minggu Pusat Sumber (13 -17/07/09) bertujuan untuk memupuk budaya membaca dalam kalangan pelajar, mengasah kemahiran menyelidik melalui pencarian dan penggunaan maklumat secara sistematik.  Tema untuk tahun ini ialah Evolusi Teknologi.(laporan)
The Annual  Library Week was packed with interesting activities and exciting competitions for all students. It was  a huge success and benefited many students. Once again the Librarians with their extraordinary effort and enthusiasm  transformed the library into a mini exhibition hall !!! Pasukan yang menjadi juara adalah Pasukan Briged Putera  dan naib juara disandang oleh  Pasukan Kadet Polis. Manakala Pasukan PBSM telah menduduki tempat ke-3. Syabas juga diucapkan  kepada  Ng Charn Cheun dari Pasukan Briged Putera, kerana berjaya mendapat penghargaan dan piala sebagai Ketua Komander Terbaik...
