Majlis Perlantikan Pengawas Sesi Petang

Unit Lembaga Pengawas Sesi Petang telah mengadakan Majlis Perlantikan Pengawas pada 2hb Ogos yang lalu. Penolong Kanan Petang Pn Cheah Kooi Mei telah menyampaikan watikah perlantikan kepada 20 orang pengawas baru sesi 2010/2011. Selepas itu ikrar pengawas telah dilafazkan oleh semua pengawas di bawah bimbingan Ketua Pengawas Sesi Petang yang baru iaitu saudara Yap Jun Hoong dari kelas 1 Camar. Majlis diakhiri dengan satu sesi penggambaran pengawas bersama dengan barisan pentadbir dan guru disiplin sesi petang. Diharapkan pengawas baru yang dilantik akan dapat menjalankan tugas dan amanah yang diberikan dengan penuh tanggungjawab.
Makan ulam pucuk pegaga,
Makan bersama ikan sembilang,
Hormati guru hidup sejahtera,
Pengawas cemerlang SMKTD terbilang.

The annual Co-curricular day held on the 23rd of July started off with a formal assembly at 7.30a.m. After the speech by our Guest of Honour, YDP PIBG Mr Chang Kim Loong, AMN, there were Taekwando, foot drill demonstrations and a band performance by SMKTD’s homegrown musicians! A singing competition was also held for students to showcase their singing talents! The whole school was engulfed in a carnival- like atmosphere. Students were treated to a fun day filled with activities, games and food! The impact of the Co-curricular day actually went beyond just food, fun and games. Most importantly students had the opportunity to garner entrepreneurship skills as well as to interact with one another.

On the 21st of June, the Sixth Form’s Red Crescent Society organized a blood donation campaign. It aimed to create awareness on the importance of donating blood among SMKTD’s students and to help Pusat Darah Negara overcome the shortage in the blood bank. More than 50 donors comprising teachers, students , former students and also parents came to lend their support. However, many students who had wanted to donate were turned away as they were not eligible due to either age or weight factor. All blood donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh more than 45kg to be eligible to donate.

Sempena Minggu Kurikulum Bidang Sains/ Matematik dan Bidang Teknik Vokasional pelbagai aktiviti telah diadakan untuk menguji pengetahuan terhadap subjek-subjek kedua-dua bidang serta menyediakan ruang untuk pelajar menonjolkan bakat dan kreativiti. Aktiviti-aktiviti yang telah dijalankan adalah seperti Pertunjukan Fesyen Go Green, Kuiz, Pertandingan Rubic Cube, Mini Mighty Minds Challenge, Reka Cipta Coke dan Mentos serta gubahan bunga. Our congratulations go to the Boys’ Brigade for once again emerging Champions in the 2010 Foot Drill Competition . Their commander, Sgt Ng Charn Chuen was also crowned the best Commander. A high level of commitment, discipline and team work made it possible for them to retain the coveted trophy. Kudos to all the participants too! 16/07/2010 Perfects’ handing-over and installation ceremony
16 July was a memorable day for SMKTD’s prefects as the senior prefects passed the baton to the newly appointed prefects in a simple yet dignified ceremony. After the principal's address, the Head Prefect, Jolene Chung led the prefects in the Prefects' Pledge.
Pada keseluruhannya sambutan ibu bapa/penjaga amat menggalakkan dengan peratus kehadiran lebih daripada 84%. Pihak sekolah mengucapkan terima kasih di atas keprihatinan ibu bapa/ penjaga terhadap perkembangan akademik anak-anak didikan SMK Taman Desa. Semoga program ini dapat membantu mempertingkat prestasi akademik SMKTD.
To all parents/ guardians : Thank you for attending the SMKTD's Report Card Day. Your presence is greatly appreciated. Special thanks to PIBG Chairman Mr Chang Kim Loong, AMN and committee members for setting up a special counter to help parents who had concerns or queries regarding matters relating to the school.

The 2010 Ping Pong Tournament organized by Taman Desa Residents’ Association with the cooperation of PIBG SMK Taman Desa was successful held on the 10 and 11th of July at the school’s premises. The tournament aimed to bring the community closer through sports. In conjunction with the tournament TDRA had also generously donated RM 1,000 and a ping pong table to SMK Taman Desa and two other neighbouring schools. SMK Taman Desa is grateful to TDRA and PIBG for their support.
09/ 07/2010 Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (APC)
Seluruh warga SMK Taman Desa mengucapkan setinggi-tinggi tahniah kepada guru-guru yang menerima anugerah tersebut.
Congratulations to Pn Yap Phaik Hwei, Pn Woon Yoke Lan, Pn Hafizah, Pn Tan Moi Sim, Ms Liew Lee Foong, Pn Sin Lai Ching and En Salahudin ( non-academic staff) for receiving the 2010 Excellent Service Awards . Each recipient of the award received a cash prize of RM1,000 and a Certificate of Recognition from the Ministry of Education, Malaysia.

SMKTD's Annual Library Week which was held from the 5th to 9th of July aimed to encourage and inspire students to use the facilities and resources found in the library more often. Under the supervision of the Library teacher, Ms Lina Lee, the librarians with their extraordinary effort and enthusiasm transformed the school library into a mini exhibition hall. This year’s theme Myth and Legend of Egypt gave students a glimpse into the world of Ancient Egypt. Besides putting up a very interesting and informative exhibition, fun activities such as info and picture hunt and carving contest were also carried out to make learning fun and challenging for students. Program Bacalah Sayang (sesi petang) dilancarkan secara rasminya oleh En. Gan Pheng Kheang, Pengetua SMKTD pada hari Isnin 5 Julai 2010. Turut bersama dalam majlis pelancaran tersebut ialah Dr. Tiew Chew Ming, iaitu wakil pihak PIBG dan beliau telah sudi menyampaikan kamus kepada murid-murid yang terlibat.
Program Bacalah Sayang dilancarkan bertujuan untuk membantu murid-murid mengatasi masalah pembelajaran melibatkan kemahiran membaca, memahami dan menulis dalam bahasa Malaysia. Selaras dengan itu, semua murid yang terlibat diharapkan dapat membaca, memahami dan menulis dalam bahasa Malaysia dengan lebih baik, seterusnya membantu mereka mencapai kemajuan dalam pelajaran.
